The human mind is hard wired to search for patterns; and narrative is simply a pattern we see in the current of human affairs. Because of this, narrative (rather than evidence or logic) is the great formative principle in history. It is, of course, remarkable that we have this ability; yet it conceals a danger. The beguiling power of a narrative can lead us far from the truth; and that way lies disaster. It is just such a disaster that our civilisation now faces.
But the future will belong to the teller of a story that is both powerful and true. And whether through boldness or rashness, that is what I shall attempt here. Like all the best stories, it is in three parts:
- In which the Creator sets us all a test, in order to separate the good from the evil.
- In which evil almost triumphs.
- In which the new Holy Land becomes a centre for the resurgent forces of good.
- CHILD OF LIFE
- TIME OF TRIAL
- LAND OF HOPE
